happy thanksgiving!

my lovely table

i made the patchwork cloth years ago and lottie wanted to do the apple tealights

a net bag of toffees

or indian candy corn (lottie made the place names)

pumpkin pie mmmm which we had with whipped vanilla sugar cream

my thanksgiving plates from the charity shop £2 the lot!

lottie's thankful turkeys

toby's turkey impression

my turkey impression

we had turkey with fabulous gravy, corn on the cob, cornbread muffins, stovetop stuffing, sweet potatoes with marshmallows (i did not like it one bit)

we filled in our thankful cards, heard the pilgrims story, did turkey impressions, played bingo, had a quiz, played peck the corn and hunt the leaves...prizes were oreos (very american!)

i am thankful for all my blessings and hope you had a thanksgiving surrounded by family, friends and love

lottie's lovely garlic dough balls

bung the ingredients in your breadmaker and put on the dough setting

once dough is ready, divide into 8 and shape into balls...cook for 15mins at 220c, brush with melted butter mixed with garlic paste and mixed herbs...try not to eat them all yourself

thanksgiving gifts

lottie saw a yt tutorial on making hot chocolate snowman jars

so she made one for herself

and one for ellie

fill a sterilised jar with hot chocolate mix up to halfway...top with mini marshmallows...cut a circle of black paper wider than the top and place over the jar lid and screw down the lid...glue a circle of black paper to the lid and a strip of black paper around the edge to create the snowman's hat...cut out 2 circles of black paper for eyes, a triangle out of orange paper for the nose and glue them onto the marshmallow part of the jar (his white face) add gems in a smile for his mouth...for a short jar, tie some lace around his hat; for a tall jar, glue a scarf just under his face

thanksgiving crafts

i found a cute little book on ebay for £1.50 with thanksgiving stained glass pages...simply use pens or pencils to create your own stain glass!

these are ellie's

these are lottie's

and these characters were made from tp rolls covered in coloured papers

thanksgiving nail art

lottie found a yt tutorial for indian candy corn nails...so we painted the 3 colours (orange, brown and cream) then added cornflour to topcoat for a matt finish

wreck it ralph

in the movie, penelope gives ralph a hero cookie medal

so lottie wanted to make some (fair enough)

we used martha stewart's sugar cookie dough recipe from her christmas book (except we substituted the brandy for milk...brandy??? ewww)

lottie used a cardboard template to cut around the rolled out dough (as we didn't have a cutter big enough)...she also learnt about filling in the royal icing but wasn't confident enough to do the writing

not quite the picture of sweet little penelope

at 2.45am when we arrived at work, there was this pier-like cutout ready for photos!

so we just had to!

(ellie is kneeling down but i really am this short)
